Although each garden, lawn and landscape is unique, they all require water. It may be supplied by mother nature or by irrigation. As weather patterns become more variable and water restrictions more stringent , it is increasingly difficult to rely on a single source to provide the water your plants require. To meet these new challenges, you need to apply water by irrigation whenever rainfall is no longer enough. A Water Efficient Irrigation System makes use of available water with maximum efficiency, eliminating unnecessary waste and evaporation.
At the Smart Water Shop, our qualified and experienced staff consider the shape, size, slope and soil type along with the sun patterns, wind directions and available water to create an irrigation plan that will grow your garden and not your water bill.
We recommend two main irrigation types, and can provide you with all the necessary equipment to implement them into your home or business.
DRIP IRRIGATION
A Dripper Irrigation system targets the roots of the plants, applying water slowly, evenly and effectively. This system enables you to have high degree of control as each emitter covers a very localised area of 20 – 50 cm preventing water loss due to overspray and poor targeting. You can also apply water below the surface to eliminate evaporation.
Dripper Irrigation is a low pressure method and therefore requires a pressure regulating device. We also recommend filters to prevent blockages in the small emitters of the dripper system.
See our irrigation section in our
smart water shop for more info.
SPRAY IRRIGATION
A Spray Irrigation System covers larger areas with fewer water emitters. There is a large range of spray sprinklers available in various shapes and sizes, allowing you to accurately target only the areas that need watering. The right products, combined with professional advice for sprinkler placement, will result in a very efficient system.
