Drip Irrigation

Drip Irrigation is a form of micro-irrigation that directly targets the root zone of plants. This system allows water to drip slowly to the roots of many different plants, either by providing water to the soil surface for absorption or by directly applying moisture to the roots beneath the ground’s surface. Drip Irrigation systems rely on a network of valves, pipes, tubing, and emitters among other fittings to ensure that the system is working correctly and efficiently.

Drip Line & Pins

In order to direct water through your irrigation system to the areas that require it, drip lines must be installed. These networks of valves and piping deliver water directly to the roots of the plants being serviced, so it is essential that drip lines are installed correctly and securely from the beginning. To provide extra stability to drip lines, drip pins may be utilised – these are stakes specifically designed to hold drip lines in place.

Pressure Reducers

A Pressure Reducer is a specialised control valve that reduces the input pressure of a fluid to a desired value at its output. When used within drip irrigation systems, these Pressure Reducers ensure that a lower water pressure is delivered to a drip system (as compared to a sprinkler system, which can handle higher pressures) via a water source.

Vacuum Breakers & Flash Valves

Vacuum Breakers are designed to purge air from a drip system in order to prevent a vacuum from occurring within the system. When installed as part of an irrigation system, a flush valve automatically flushes 3L of water through the system at the beginning of every cycle – ensuring the drip line is cleaned and cleared of sediment.

Drippers & Fittings

Drippers (or drip emitters) are a vital part of any drip irrigation system, as they are responsible for releasing water to awaiting plants from the mainline tubing. Drippers can be punched directly into the mainline or they can be inserted into the ends of tubing for plants that aren’t close to the mainline, ensuring water can be delivered regardless of whether plants are evenly spaced or not. There are also a variety of additional fittings that can be added to drip line systems – from stakes to pressure indicators.
